Lube Oil Contamination Solutions
Case Study
This case study explains how PFP mobilized a vacuum dehydrator rental within 24 hours to address water and particulate contamination in a paper mill lube oil reservoir.
Recently, we were contacted by a manufacturer in the paper industry located in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The manufacturer explained that they were experiencing water contamination in the lube oil reservoir of their paper machine.
After reviewing the most recent oil analysis, we determined that there was a significant amount of particulate contamination as well.
For paper machine applications, maintaining target oil cleanliness levels is critical in supporting equipment reliability. Both moisture and particulate contamination can increase wear and contribute to component failure if not addressed promptly.
Our Solution
Based on the volume of oil and contamination types, we prescribed a 5 GPM vacuum dehydrator rental equipped with an absolute rated, 3µ pleated filter cartridge. This configuration allowed the system to address both moisture and particulate contamination simultaneously.
Because we maintain a vast selection of rental units for rapid deployment, we were able to mobilze and deliver the 5 GPM vacuum dehydrator within 24 hours.
Results
Once on site, the vacuum dehydrator was utilized to continuously ciruclate the lube oil reservoir. This approached effectively reduced both particulate and moisture contamination, helping to achieve the target oil cleanliness required for optimal reliability.

PFP vacuum dehydrator rental unit removes water & particulate contamination from lube oil reservoir at a paper mill.
Our specialists quickly assessed the problem, allowing us to determine the most cost-effective and timely solution for our customer.
After seeing the efficiency of our vacuum dehydrator unit, the manufacturer decided to purchase a brand new vacuum dehydrator as a permanent tool for maintaining equipment reliability.
The Importance of Fast, Effective Filtration Solutions
Contamination events like this one require both the correct equipment and a fast, cost-efficient response. Delays can significantly increase risk, and the wrong equipment wastes time and money while contamination continues to circulate through critical components.
This is precisely why we pride ourselves on our ability to rapidly prescribe and mobilize the most efficient filtration solutions for a wide range of industrial and commercial applications.
