Natural Gas Filtration Systems & Components

We offer a full line of standard and custom-built filtration systems ideal for natural gas pipeline filtration and pigging operations. We offer combustion turbine air filters, particulate filters, clay treater filters, amine filters, two-stage coalescer-separators, strainers, and natural gas pipeline filters. Installing a pipeline filtration system will prevent weld slag, pipe scale, dust, dirt, debris and other particulate matter from damaging meters, regulators, or other sensitive pipeline equipment.

Permanent & Rental Equipment

We have filters and systems available for permanent installation or for emergency rental filtration equipment, which are great for operations such as pipeline pigging! Installing our filter pressure vessels with a pig launcher can help remove debris and impurities that get introduced during a pigging operation. After pigging is complete, the filters may be retained inside the pig launcher.

    FAQs

What contaminants do natural gas filters remove during pipeline commissioning?

Natural gas filters are commonly used during commissioning to remove weld slag, mill scale, rust, gasket material, and construction debris before gas is introduced into downstream equipment.

Where should natural gas filters be installed within a pipeline system?

Natural gas filters are typically installed upstream of compressors, regulators, meters, control valves, and custody transfer equipment to prevent particulate damage and maintain reliable system operation.

When does renting a natural gas filter make more sense than installing a permanent system?

Rentals are often used for short-term needs such as pipeline commissioning, maintenance outages, emergency bypass operations, or upset conditions where temporary filtration is required without permanent installation.

How are natural gas filters sized for flow rate and operating pressure?

Filter sizing is based on gas flow rate, pressure, allowable pressure drop, and expected contaminant load. Proper sizing ensures effective filtration without restricting system performance.

What is the difference between particulate gas filters and gas separators?

Particulate filters remove solid contaminants from natural gas streams, while separators are designed to remove liquids or bulk contaminants. In some applications, both are used together for complete protection.

Can natural gas filters be used in high-pressure transmission applications?

Yes. Natural gas filters are commonly designed for high-pressure service and can be configured to handle transmission pipeline pressures while maintaining filtration efficiency and structural integrity.
